wanna grow up to be, be a debaser! debaser! debaser!

Exactly a year ago, I received a text message from Peachy saying, "I don't know why, I've been feeling like shit since yesterday. Thanks for understanding, Carlo. I love you." That was her reply when I asked where she'd like to go to celebrate her birthday. She wasn't in the mood to be around a bunch of people so she locked herself up inside her dark apartment and spoke to no one. I think she even refused to reply to several birthday greetings or innocent queries (something that happens occasionally anyway, especially if she forgets to recharge her phone battery). Eventually though she regained some strength to be slightly merry and we got to drink like drunkards. Several weeks after, I told her I got an interesting job offer that would require me to move to another country. Her immediate response was something like, "Carlo, you prick! I'm excited for you. I'm going to miss you though."

I'm not sure if it was two years ago when, for her birthday, I made her watch The Purple Rose of Cairo at my house. It depressed the hell out of her! Hahahahahahahaha! When the end credits rolled she was weeping while "Cheek To Cheek" by Fred Astaire and Leo Reisman's Orchestra was playing. She was still weeping after I turned off my machine. ;)

Peachy, it is not my intention to depress you but...Happy Birthday! I hope you're feeling much better today than you were last year. But if you're not, well, you're not. It's okay. See you on December! We'll sing The Smiths and Pixies songs together! And Aimee Mann! And down dozens of cases of beer! And eat fried tofu and chicken kebab! And eat at Bellini's! (By the way, the, um, letter and parcel...they haven't been couriered yet! So sorry! Procrastinators unite!)

AWWW, hahaha, thanks, Carlo!!! My birthday would have been so much better if you'd been around, but there's nothing we can do about that. But yeah, wait 'til December comes. Whoohoo!

Shh, I don't mind if the parcel's late. You don't even have to send me anything! And I was woozy in that picture, but also, quite frankly, happy to be beside you. Hee hee.
